This is the second piece in a series of paintings of my favorite composers with animals representative of their music. The first piece was of John Zorn (I suppose I should post that one as well). This is French composer Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992), who
transcribed bird-song for solo piano and wrote a
"Quartet for the End of Time" while a prisoner during WWII. He also experienced synesthesia - perceiving sound as color and sounds from colors.
